I was painting this piece in the time leading up to the 100 year anniversary of World War 1.
I created the lighter shapes using masking fluid at different stages of the painting, at no point during the process were any intentional images drawn or created in any way; despite this there are in my eye two distinct shapes one appears to be a soldier wielding a weapon (maybe a gun, different peoples ideas vary) and in the bottom of the painting a small cross.
At this point I stopped working on the painting any further and that is why the piece is named 'Forever Lost' I would love to hear if you see them too!
It remains a memorable piece, whenever I pass the painting (which is hanging on my landing) it makes me think of family and friends passed as well as the ever growing list of forces, security, police, firebrigade etc....all those services we rely on that generously give their health and/or lives to give us peace and freedom.
